New aspects in studying the clinical and morphological features of placental insuffi-ciency in maternal type 1 diabetes mellitus

A follow-up was conducted in 55 pregnant women with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1), 8 of whom had a pregnancy complicated by preeclampsia. The course of the disease was com-pensated in all these patients; a control group consisted of 10 women. The data of comprehen-sive clinical and morphological (using different scanning microscopy options) studies and their comparison confirm the need to correct the placental status in the presence of maternal DM1 in all cases.
