Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is the most common complication associated with diabetes mellitus, which is represented by heterogeneous conditions that differ in the site of a lesion in the nervous system lesion and manifestations. In his/her practice, a physician can encounter neuropathy induced by rapid improvements of glycemic control in individuals with long-term hyperglycemia. The importance of achieving glycemia as close to physiological range is undisputed, but the risk of severe pain syndrome in the lower extremities in the presence of relative hypoglycemia necessitates an individual approach in compliance with the tactics of gradual compensation of carbohydrate metabolism.
