This clinical example demonstrates the need for stepwise treatment of coexistent primary open-angle glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy: intraocular pressure compensation at Stage 1, then the use of angiogenesis inhibitors at Stage 2, followed by laser coagulation of the retina. The combined treatment has proven to be effective and safe.
