Issue:

The 13C-methacetin breath test (13C-Meth-BT) is used to diagnose hepatocellular failure, to define the stages of fibrosis, and to monitor their dynamics in chronic liver diseases without using invasive diagnostic tests (liver biopsy). The role of 13C-Meth-BT in diagnosing the functional status of hepatocytes has been defined in liver diseases from various causes.
