Стресс является одной из важнейших проблем современного здравоохранения, широко распространенной в мире. Индивид регулярно вынужден сталкиваться с повседневным стрессом на работе и в семье, а также с глобальными проблемами человечества, например, с бедностью, голодом или терроризмом. Последствием стресса является развитие посттравматических стрессовых расстройств, приводящих к развитию психиатрической и соматической патологии. В данном обзоре описываются эпидемиология стрессовых расстройств, теория развития стресса, обсуждаются различные виды стрессоров и их распространенность в обществе, влияние стресса на психическое и физическое здоровье индивида, его связь с развитием зависимостей. Отдельно рассматриваются немедикаментозные методики и стратегии борьбы со стрессом, фармакологические варианты его терапии, возможные способы профилактики стрессовых расстройств. Приведены результаты изучения эффективности венлафаксина у пациентов с ИБС после стентирования и аортокоронарного шунтирования.
