The paper presents the results of studying the hormonal thyroid complex and immune status of 169 schoolchildren aged 8 to 16 years who live in a perceived environmental risk area. The schoolchildren were found to have subclinical hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. Preclinical changes in the immune status were characterized by suppression of IgG synthesis in a direct relationship to the proximity of an industrial complex. The same relationship was found in autoimmune thyroid disorders by the number of antibodies to thyroglobulin and thyroperoxidase.
