PROSPECTS FOR THE USE OF LOCAL ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY IN THE TREATMENT OF OSTEOMYELITIS

The paper discusses current treatment procedures for chronic osteomyelitis, by delivering an antibiotic directly to the infection site. It analyzes the perspectives of different materials (polymers, metals, sponges) as means of transporting drugs to altered bone tissue. The advantages and disadvantages of each method are indicated. The problems to be solved are indicated.
