The investigators assessed the immune status of patients with zooanthroponotic trichophytosis (ZAT) and changes in their immune responses to the antigens of pathogenic fungi. The investigation studied the specific features of an immune response in different clinical forms of mycosis and mycoses caused by different species of pathogens. This was done using the materials of clinical and laboratory examinations in 45 children aged 5 to 18 years with ZAT. The results of the investigation confirm the scientific conception that ZAT is characterized primarily by the cell-mediated type of a host’s immune response and, to a significantly lesser degree, by a humoral one. In some patients with ZAT, the inefficiency of traditional treatments, which is characterized by transformation of infiltrative to suppurative forms and accompanied by significantly altered immunological parameters, shows the expediency of improving the methods of combination treatment in these patients.
