PERIPHERAL ARTERIES IN CHRONIC HEPATITIS AND LIVER CIRRHOSIS OF VIRAL ETIOLOGY

A reactive hyperemia test was shown to record a lower endothelial dilatory response in viral cirrhosis more frequently than in HBV- and HCV-infection-related chronic hepatitis, which is likely to be associated with severer organic changes in the smooth muscle cells of the vascular wall, with its stiffness and impaired endothelium-dependent mechanisms for regulation of vascular tone.
