The efficiency of methods for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis

The diagnostic efficacy of abdominal laparoscopy and ultrasonography was retrospectively in patients who had been hospitalized with a diagnosis of acute appendicitis. Only laparoscopy was used in the period of 2001 to 2003; laparoscopy and ultrasonography were performed in 2015 to 2017. It was shown that the quality of prehospital diagnosis of acute appendicitis became worse; the use of abdominal ultrasonography could reduce the number of laparoscopies from 26.1 to 6.8% (p < 0.05).
