CAUSES OF POOR OUTCOME IN PATIENTS WITH GENERALIZED TUBERCULOSIS

The factors influencing a fatal outcome (HIV infection, chronic alcoholism, the complicated course of the disease) were retrospectively assessed in 50 patients with generalized tuberculosis (pulmonary tuberculosis concurrent with tuberculous meningitis). No chest X-ray for a long time and as a result the late diagnosis of tuberculosis lead to its aggravation, tuberculous involvement of the central nervous system, impairment of consciousness, and death from generalized tuberculosis in the first 2 months after the admission to a tuberculosis hospital.
